The Difference Between Relationship Anarchy And Non-Hierarchical Polyamory

December 5th, 2021 at 3:31PM

There's no such thing as non-hierarchical polyamory. You can enforce "equality" as a rule, but in your mind you will always like or love different partners on different levels, and if a rule isn't based on reality, it was made to evade it, which means it's all bullshit and only a matter of time before reality avenges itself in ways you won't even be able to comprehend because you tried to make it fit your whims rather than conforming to its absolutism.

In this sense, using these inappropriate terms, all relationships are anarchical, without any rules other than how you feel for each other. I would call that capitalism, though, because it's about trade, about shared values and goals, and those depend on more fundamental "rules", principles, to guide your choices and actions -- and the only principle that works in all human relationships is fair trade.
