Information is the foundation of imagination as well. How can you know your conscious without knowing what you're conscious of? The answer to this question requires no inference. It's experienced so directly -- simultaneously -- that the two (consciousness and existence, awareness and reality, subject and object, etc.) cannot be separated, even abstractly, by conscious beings, without first identifying what consciousness is conscious of. That's information, which you can then infer shit from, of course, but no cognitive faculties would exist without the physiological processes that make them possible. We learn it in reverse, but it obviously doesn't work that way.
