In AI We Trust?

May 27th, 2023 at 1:15AM

No. The reason we regulate shit is to make it more predictable, because an unpredictable economy can't be successfully regulated and (we think) an unregulated economy can't be trusted. Psychologically, the fact the future of such an enormous system guided by unforeseeable choices can't be predicted is what worries and frightens us, and that fear and uncertainty is what rationalizes the belief regulation is even necessary at all. Never mind anyone's political views on economic power -- the trustworthiness of businessmen versus government bureaucrats. Innovation not knowing what we want = insurmountable ignorance. It doesn't matter if you're a human or a robot with unlimited data processing capabilities. The information required to make accurate predictions doesn't even exist to be analyzed. Draw your own conclusions, but I think for the same reasons government regulation epically fails to both stabilize and stimulate the economy, AI would fail to stabilize and stimulate my stock portfolio. It's impossible to predict market patterns.

The real question, however, regarding AI, is, when it's finally fully realized, will it trust us? 😈
