SOCIOLOGY -- Max Weber
February 6th, 2024 at 3:19AMAn economic system is a social system. Capitalism is the only one based on the inviolable rights of every individual who acts within that system. It's the evolution of the concept "rights" that led to it, not the new concept of family or community that was really the result of this philosophical -- not scientific -- evolution. It's actually the realization that individual freedom leads to a stronger, more integrated (by self-interest), society that simply eventually became impossible to deny, as all the failures to force it (literally 😂) piled up, that led to capitalism.
Regulators, by which I mean anyone who thinks rights aren't enough, that not only businesses but human behavior itself should be controlled by force, need to understand this. Technological progress doesn't lead to freedom. Freedom leads to technological progress, without which there'd be nothing to fucking regulate.
Think about it. Why would I trade my shit for your shit if I can just take your shit? And if I can just take your shit, why would I create shit?
Regulation is not only antithetical to capitalism, the only pro-freedom system, it's antithetical to regulation itself, to the idea that rationalizes it, the idea it protects consumers or the public or who-the-fuck-ever it's allegedly intended to protect, and theories like this, theories that attempt to redefine the essentials of capitalism, merely rationalize that rationalization.
