Solving the meaning crisis | John Vervaeke

February 16th, 2024 at 3:01AM

What am I? That's the "meaning crisis"? I think it's more accurate to describe it as a lack of confidence in our own minds.

I watch this presentation. He convinces me his method of finding meaning in my life works. I'm happy for years. And then one day I watch another presentation on the same subject but based on a different definition of the meaning of life. What do I do if it's more convincing? How can it be more convincing without disproving what I was convinced of before? Was I not really happy? How can I be sure this new method will lead to happiness if I was wrong? What does it mean to be happy? What does it mean to be convinced one view is more accurate than another? Can they both be right but only to different degrees? Etc...

That's the "meaning crisis". We've abandoned philosophy for "science" (as pseudo-religion) and can't fake believing in bullshit anymore. 😂
