If you take your principles seriously, as political philosophies -- which apply to the entire social system -- democracy and socialism are not that different. Every right we American individualists take for granted will always be stolen eventually in any system that doesn't limit government to their protections, regardless of how it's labeled, until the next revolution, i.e., until a politically-powerful-enough group of individuals fights to implement systematically those protections for themselves at the expense of those of other individuals. The only way to end such conflict is not for everyone to accept the same values, but for everyone to accept everyone has a right to their own, that the conflict really doesn't exist, that it's really just complete and utter bullshit fabricated by pathetic parasites preying on paranoid freedom-phobes (😂) in order to get whatever they feel they just can't live another day without any other way.
