Grimes Speaks Out on The Death of Religion

March 1st, 2025 at 6:07AM

Religion is proscribed morality. 😤 If you can't abstract morality from religion, just compare them.

Morality without religion is no less valid than choosing one, but most people simply accept (or are forced to accept) the one to which they're first exposed and ignore the others, so the fact they've actually chosen their own idea of good and evil -- the choice, not the idea itself -- is really, knowingly or not, renounced. It's inescapable, that choice to accept and follow any particular religion. It's just not undeniable, a power the most devout purposefully exploit to demonstrate their religion's righteousness (😂) and that devoutness. And this can easily cause in the mind of anyone who has yet to develop it through independent experience, introspection and self-evaluation the confusion that one's sense of morality is beyond one's control, that the morality they choose isn't chosen, that it's just the way shit is, like a metaphysical absolute, regardless even of long-term consequences anyone can judge are...

If the idea of God or whatever as the highest moral authority could be magically erased from everyone's minds, it is only those who can't differentiate morality and religion who would actually be lost and confused as a result of it.
