September 12th, 2025 at 6:32AMLiberty is not a Christian idea. It's not an idea consistent with any religion. It's not an idea consistent with any of the mystical "atheists" he mentioned.
The idea that murder, for instance, is wrong because God says it's wrong is the opposite of liberty. That's what is meant by "transcendant" -- if God says it then it's beyond our power to decide it for ourselves, which is an obvious falsity. The real "harsh truth" about America is that religion is antithetical to the political ideas that made it possible.
The mistake, though, that leads to this nonsense, isn't in the misconception of liberty, it's in the misconception of objectivity, and neither of these men understand it.
That man standing behind Charlie Kirk exists independently of Charlie Kirk, but not only does that man standing behind Charlie Kirk exist independently of Charlie Kirk, we ALSO know that that man standing behind Charlie Kirk exists independently of Charlie Kirk.
If we want liberty for everyone, for ourselves, that's where it starts, not with an Eleventh Fucking Commandment, but with the full knowledge of why we have a right to it.
