Bill Belichick says he doesn’t really deserve to be in the Hall of Fame #BillBelichick #HallOfFame

I don't really deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, so there's no need for anyone to get angry on my behalf. I know my record is there. 24 years as a head coach, six Super Bowl titles with my team, and two more as the Giants defensive coordinator, for a total of eight Super Bowl rings. By any traditional standard, I should have been a no-brainer, first ballot hall of famer, but this result was disappointing, and it made me feel I should address the real reasons.

Back in 2007, I filmed opposing teams defensive signals. Even though that happened many years ago, it still affects some voters' judgments. Some people view my accomplishments as tainted by cheating. On top of that, the 50-year age difference between my girlfriend and me has also become a topic of discussion. Clearly, some voters care more about a coach's personal life than about his performance on the field. I understand that and I accept it. I've never been someone who tries to please the media or chase public approval.
